StoneCrest Medical Center 2009 Frist Humanitarian Award Winners Announced

March 9, 2010 – Carianna Johnson, RN, Houston Vaughan, and Dr. Jeffrey Larsen were recently awarded StoneCrest’s 2009 Frist Humanitarian Awards.  Carianna, Houston, and Dr. Jeffrey Larsen will now be eligible for the nationwide 2009 Frist Humanitarian Award, the highest honor an employee, physician and volunteer can receive at HCA, the parent company of StoneCrest Medical Center.

The Frist Humanitarian Awards were created to recognize one employee, one physician, and one volunteer at each HCA-affiliated facility who demonstrate extraordinary concern for the welfare and happiness of patients and their community.  The Frist Humanitarian Awards are given annually in recognition of the humanitarian spirit and philanthropic work of the late Dr. Thomas F. Frist, Sr., a founder of HCA.  This award recognizes individuals whose daily care giving epitomizes the personal commitment to highest standards of care.  Nominations are open to co-workers, supervisors, physicians and administrators.

Employee recipient, Carianna Johnson, has served as a registered nurse in the labor and delivery unit for nearly twenty years.  Carianna has consistently demonstrated a strong devotion to human welfare at both local and international levels.  In less than seven years, Carianna has participated in sixteen mission trips to third-world countries such as Haiti and Africa providing surgical, financial, and educational services.

Volunteer recipient, Houston Vaughan, retired from the State of Tennessee after thirty-eight years of service.  He has also volunteered with the Habitat for Humanity, Katrina rebuild, and Zimbabwe Orphans Endeavor.

Our physician recipient is Dr. Jeffrey Larsen, a general surgeon with StoneCrest Medical Center for nearly five years.  StoneCrest Medical staff members state that “Dr. Larsen is a great humanitarian and always willing to go above and beyond to help his patients.”

“StoneCrest Medical Center is honored to continue the work of Dr. Frist by being committed to delivering quality patient care.  We are extremely proud to recognize Carianna, Houston, and Dr. Larsen for their efforts on behalf of our patients and our community,” said Mark Sim, CEO at StoneCrest Medical Center.  “It is a privilege to have these individuals as a part of our StoneCrest family.  Carianna, Houston, and Dr. Larsen truly embody the spirit of Dr. Frist and are an inspiration to us all.”
